We are just weeks away from welcoming our little dude into the world and as the day approaches we wanted to be fully prepared with clothing options so he is comfortable, happy, and dapper. If you are asking yourself, what clothes do I need for my newborn, you are in the right place. In doing research, we found tons of great recommendations on both used and new clothing options and brands and thought I would share some of those with you. Don’t hesitate to check Facebook Marketplace in your area for second-hand clothing, as there is tons of stuff out there. On the off chance you don’t happen to vibe with the options, you can always donate those items you don’t like. We picked up a box of 10-15 outfits of varying sizes, colors, and styles which helped both our budget and impact on the climate. I understand that for some items, you may want to get them new so whatever works for your situation is best!
Below is a rough checklist of items you may want to pick up. I will include some links to recommended brands below each so you can easily navigate to pick them up as well as boy and girl options when a unisex option is not available
Onesies/Bodysuits: Soft cotton onesies with snaps for easy diaper changes (about 5-7).
HAPIU Bamboo Onesies - These have quickly become a crowd favorite
Gerber
Honest Baby
Swaddles/Sleep Sacks: To keep the baby snug and secure. (I've revised my recommendation here after weeks of using each one. My new favorite is the Love to Dream Swaddle Up)
Love to Dream Swaddle UP - This is our new favorite. It's easy to zip up and our little guy moves around a ton so having his arms up made him less torpedo like lol
SwaddleMe - These are sort of gender agnostic but I will split them out below
Halo
Hats: Soft hats to keep the baby warm, especially for outings.
Socks and Mittens: To keep tiny feet warm and prevent scratching.
Goumi Kids
Seasonal Outerwear: Jackets, blankets, or footed outfits depending on the weather.
The North Face
Remember, always going out and buying new things may not be the best and most cost-effective option. Check your local buy-nothing groups and Facebook marketplace for second-hand options. Hopefully, this list above was helpful as you prepare for your newborn arrival. If you have any recommendations or edits, please feel free to leave a comment below 😊.
